Dr. Kimberly Westervelt is an accomplished educator with over 20 years of educational experience. She is currently an assistant principal who has had great success improving the culture and climate of schools through the use of student voice. She began her career as an English teacher with the belief that education is the great equalizer. She then transitioned to the role of English Language Arts Supervisor, where she helped to significantly improve student achievement scores in English language arts. Dr. Westervelt has always valued service and considers her profession a calling. Through hard work and commitment, she earned a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Liberty University, a Master of Arts Degree in Administration and Supervision from Montclair State University, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in English and Secondary Education from The College of New Jersey.
Dr. Westervelt has experience presenting at the state and local levels and has a deep appreciation for professional development. Based on her experience and accomplishments, she is most passionate about the following topics: School Culture and Climate, Culturally Responsive Approaches, Data-driven Results, Importance of Relationships, Conflict Resolution, Student Engagement, Mindfulness in the Classroom, and High School English Language Arts Curriculum and Instruction.
Dr. Westervelt’s core values are grounded in a growth mindset where she believes all students can learn and thrive. Her expectations are always high and she believes successful results are produced in environments that encourage communication, collaboration, and accountability.
